Heißer Aufguss! Von lauwarm kann sicher keine Rede sein, wenn das Remix-Album die Ursprungsscheibe abhängt. Dabei klang „System Shakedown“ ja nicht ernsthaft schlecht. Beim Erscheinen erfüllte die Scheibe fast alle Erwartungen punktgenau, konnte aber nicht überraschen. Wer weit oben angekommen ist, hat’s schwer, die Latte immer höher zu legen. Mit titanischer Unterstützung gelingt das „Mr. Dubmatix“ Jesse King jetzt eindrucksvoll. Der „Clash“ lotet nahezu sämtlich Winkel im Dubbyversum aus: Hier rollt es klassisch, dort prügeln verdschungelte Beats, woanders drücken unterirdische Bässe oder summen ethno-urbane Samples. Verantwortlich für das Wechselspiel zeichnen sich globale Mischpultgrößen wie Mungo’s Hi Fi, Neil Perch (Zion Train) oder Aldubb und Urgesteine wie Felix Wolter (Trance Vision Steppers). Wenn die Scheibe einen Haken hat, ist es die Zwiespältigkeit ihrer stilistischen Vielfalt. Klarer formuliert: Traditionell Eingestellte könnte das grobe, moderne Gepolter vergrämen, während sich Avantgardisten womöglich beim gewöhnlichen One-Drop langweilen? Aus diesem potenziellen Dilemma führt nur eines heraus: Austesten!
