Auf Jamwax ist gerade eine schöne 7 Inch aus den 50er Jahren neu erschienen. Lizensiert wurde das Ganze von Smithsonian Folkways, einem Non-Profit Label des Smithsonian Museums aus den USA:

Aufgenommen und produziert wurde das Stück von Emory Cook, der seinerzeit für Aufnahmen höchster Qualität stand und auch die sogenante Cook-Presse für Vinyl entwickelt hat, mit der – das lässt sich aus heutiger Sicht schwer vorstellen – Platten bei Bestellung im Plattenladen direkt vor Ort anhand eines Abbildes des Masters gepresst wurden.

Doch genug der Geschichtsstunde, denn “Me Ting Is Mine” ist ein außerordentlich virtuoses und zum Tanzen animierendes Stück Calypso, genau so wie “Whey You Want To Touch It For” auf der B-Seite. Hinter dem Alias Orchestral Overtures verbirgt sich Fitz Vaughan Bryan, durch dessen Discographie es sich durchaus zu stöbern lohnt!
