Reggae Geel 2019 – Line-up complete!

Reggae Geel 2019

This year’s Reggae Geel festival takes place on Friday the 2nd and Saturday the 3rd of August. Recently the festival announced to expect a number of highly appraised artists, such as Buju Banton, Busy Signal  and Agent Sasco. In the meantime the line-up was completed. For the 2019 edition Reggae Geel has managed to schedule a considerable range of big names. What does the 41st Reggae Geel have in store for all of us?

On Friday, the legendary Rockers are welcomed on stage. This year signifies the 40th birthday of the movie ‘Rockers’, about a group of talented Jamaican artists. That’s why Big Youth, Leroy “Horsemouth” Wallace, Kiddus I, Bernard Collins (from the Abyssinians), KushArt Group, and Lloyd Park and his We The People Band will perform the movie’s soundtrack live for the very first time ever. If you’ve never seen it, make sure to watch this magnificent movie out of 1979 before you come to the festival. It is without a doubt THE reggae movie everyone should have seen at least once. You’ll immediately understand that the Rockers will make the live revival an unmissable and memorable concert!

On Saturday, the mainstage will be turned upside down by Burna Boy. This popular afrobeat artist is one of the most relevant performers of 2019 already. Afrobeat is on the rise, and BB is the biggest revelation in the genre. In April he caused some earthquakes at Coachella for two weekends in a row. And now he’s going to do the same at Reggae Geel. Also the “Queen of Reggae” Marcia Griffiths, the famous Half Pint, Randy Valentine and King of Dancehall Beenie Man are acts that you simply have to see on the mainstage that day. Plenty of great artists to warm up the public before Reggae Geel welcomes the previously announced main act Buju Banton.

In the 18 Inch Corner, also known as “Dubbos” (the Forest of Dub), the Ionyouth Soundsystem will build up their enormous wall of speakers. They will be the host sound of the day. On Saturday this task will be up to the renowned King Shiloh Sound System, together with a squad of other well-known artists from the dub scene.

The belgian Soul Shakers will warm up the Bounce on Saturday for the great legend of dancehall Massive B, and for the previously announced Sir David Rodigan meets King Jammy. Other artists that will perform on staturday: Oku Onuora, Mighty Massa, Alpha & Omega, David Katz & Ras Digby and many more.
