Aldubb meets Citizen Sound feat. Ammoye – “Wa Do Dubb” / Citizen Sound meets Aldubb feat. Brother Culture – “Praises In The Dance”

Aldubb is the resident sound-engineer at Planet Earth Studios in Berlin, where he records, produces and mixes all his music. As one of the busiest dub remixers in Germany, he is responsible for outstanding pieces of sound treatment. His productions all have a special sound based on a huge collection of vintage gear combined with 21st century production techniques. Beside engineering and dubbing he is the drummer in the band playing with Jah Seal and Ras Perez. One-Drop Music releases regular collections of his works as “Dub Files”. 2010 saw the release of his first Solo-album “Let There Be Dub”. He recently remixed for The Senior Allstars and the Echo Beach label. One-Drop Music has also released the debutalbum of Sattatree and the first 10 Inch by Braintheft – both exceptionally fine bands from Berlin! The Original “Wa Do Dub” feat. Ammoye is the opening track on the present album by Citizen Sound. Aldubb deconstructed and rebuilt it into a deep steppers with a dubstep wobble bass. Heavy bass for heavy dancing!

“The tempo is faster, the bass is deeper and the context is different, but the raw energy and signature melody of Eek-A-Mouse’s ‘Wa Do Dem’ has been preserved in this new recording. Ammoye lives up to the challenge using her sweet voice and powerfull delivery while Citizen Sound & Aldubb as producers are just as talented and innovative now as Junjo and Joe Gibbs were in their time.” Mighty Howard (USA/GER)

“Dub at first sight! Reaching back to the roots of dub and bringing it up to date with heavier-than-heavyweight bass, a touch of dubstep wobble, plus the unmistakably smooth vocal stylings of Ammoye. This new 7″ is quite a treat for your body and mind. Big Up to the Irie Ites crew for all you do!” Terry C., WLUW Chicago (USA)

Citizen Sound is the production moniker of Toronto-based DJ and producer Aram Scaram. In addition to his work in the studio, Aram is the co-host of Version Xcursion, a weekly radio show that has provided Toronto with some of the most ground-breaking dub for the past 13 years. Through Version Xcursion, Aram produced and released two full-length albums along with three EPs. Citizen Sound’s debut album was released in 2010. Producer Aram Scaram teamed up with some of Canada’s premier singers & musician’s to help bring his home-grown vision to life. The result is an exciting fusion of dub, reggae, soul & hip-hop. A Citizen Sound-remix of the classic track “Give Thanks” feat. Ranking Joe by Dubmatix, one of Aram’s mentors in the past, concludes the album. “Thanks & Praises” feat. Brother Culture was taken from the 10 Inch “The Center Of Gravity” released in fall 2010 and then remixed by Aram Scaram aka Citizen Sound. Citizen Sound’s remix brought in a funky flavour and the sweet backgroundvocals by Ammoye – definetly a hit-tune for the next dance: “Praises in the dance”!!

Brother Culture – the original Rasta MC – doesn’t really need an introduction. He has worked with so many different producers and labels that the list would fill this page for sure. He has recently shared stage with Zion Train and Adrian Sherwood. In 2010 he has toured with Dubmatix in Mexico and Europe. He started MCing in 1982 for Jah Revelation Muzik Sound System and from that point on became one of the most influencial MCs in the UK!

Ammoye is an artist that you will discover really quick when digging into the canadian reggaescene. Ammoye has worked with Juno award winning artists Dubmatix and Michael Buble, as well as Kreesha Turner, Corey Lee, Anjulie, Najja Calibur of Najjah’s World and Rise Ashen for their actual release “Haffi Win” (Balanced Records). Toronto based Ammoye is a multi-genre vocalist and therefore at home in different musical genres such as Reggae, R’n’B and Hip Hop. A unique voice and a style that can deal with a huge variety of music makes her special!
